A Message from our President

As the new president of the Central Great Lakes Region (CGLR) of Women's League for Conservative Judaism, I would like to introduce myself. I am Debra Stern Green (Debbi), the immediate past president/co-president of the Sisterhood of Congregation Beth Judea in Long Grove, Illinois. I have also served on our synagogue board and executive board for many years, the Women's Board of the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago, the Hillel board and executive committee at the University of Illinois, and, many years ago, on our local JCC board.

About Us

Women's League provides a complete program of involvement for the modern Jewish woman, her family, and her community. There are four major categories where Women's League representation enables us to be involved: perpetuating Conservative Judaism, supporting Israel, encouraging social responsibility, and enriching Jewish cultural life.

Our programs seek to instill the religious ideals of Judaism into the lives and homes of our members, emphasizing Jewish ethical teachings as they apply to individual and group life. We encourage involvement and participation in contemporary issues on the local, national and international scene. .

As an active arm of the worldwide Conservative/Masorti Movement with close ties to The Jewish Theological Seminary of America, The Schechter Institute in Jerusalem and the University of Judaism in Los Angeles, we support their programs through the Torah Fund Campaign.
