Hello Everyone!

Here are a few Region updates:

Our Spring Conference

I am getting more women involved in the planning and doing process, and I'm convinced that we will have a wonderful, fun weekend full of learning and ruach! Think about how you would like to help, and let me know. There's plenty for everyone!

• A "save the date" flyer will be coming your way in a couple of days, thanks to Eleanor Dickman Of Congregation Beth David in Saratoga, our hosting sisterhood.

• We have a very full web site for the planning of the conference - check it out! http://nxnwregionwlcj.wetpaint.com/ If you need help getting into the site, please let me know.

• We are still working out the details of the accommodations - thanks to Addie Banasky (Portland, OR) and Emily Gannes (Saratoga, CA) for stepping up to help with this.

• We've started to work on the menus - thanks to the Beth David staff for their help.

• Thanks to Davida Adelberg (Sisterhood President of Beth David) for her unrelenting support and assistance.

• I've had some conversations with our Women's League Consultant, Jacki Stevens, and I'm sure you will all enjoy her company during the Shabbaton. Her picture is on the conference web site (look in the "members" page).

• Here are some ways you and your sisterhood could help (pick one!)
  • organize the Shabbat services
  • organize the programming (some of it is already set)
  • arrange the menus
  • receive the reservations (organize the lists and collect checks)
  • publicity
  • create the handouts for the conference (the "program")
  • put together the conference packets
  • greet people at the hotel and synagogue
  • make snacks for the hospitality suite
  • lead a yoga session Saturday afternoon
  • and lots of other little things...

Travels with Your President

I seem to be on the road quite a bit in the next few weeks. Remember to let me know about any special events that your sisterhood is sponsoring, and we will be sure to have a Region representative there.

This month, I'll be celebrating WL Shabbat with the sisterhoods

• at Beth Israel, Vancouver, BC - Jan 16-18. They have a scholar-in-residence Dr. Anne Lapidus Lerner who will be leading learning sessions all weekend. Marian Cohen (currently in Israel) is their president. Reena and others keep the sisterhood going while she's out of the country.
  

• at Neveh Shalom, Portland, OR - Jan 23-24. They will be leading services Friday night, and hosting a get-together Saturday afternoon. Susan Sutherlin is the sisterhood president.

• at Beth Tikvah, Richmond, BC - Jan 30-31. I'm looking forward to visiting with this sisterhood - I haven't seen many of them for a few years, since I was the Torah Fund VP in my past branch. Hannah Frankel & Ruth Singer are their presidents.

In March, I am planning to visit the Bay Area again, and hope to visit with our sisterhoods in that area. Plans are in the works for a casual get-together. More on that later!
