Preparations for the 2010 Biennial Convention
are moving apace as we focus on Kehillah Kedoshah: Celebrating Community Woman to Woman.
What better communities to applaud than those of our sisterhoods that have nurtured and sustained Jewish life and
vitality within their local communities for decades! Through a wide range of activities
— those
developed and sponsored by Women’s League and original programs and home-grown initiatives — we
acknowledge our sisterhoods as the glittering jewels in the crown of our
organization. It is therefore with great pleasure that we introduce what we anticipate will be
an ongoing tradition: the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism
Jewels in the Crown Award, established to honor those sisterhoods that
demonstrate achievement in these three categories:
Level I: AmethystSisterhoods must participate in or sponsor: 2 Education/Program activities + 1 Community Service/World Affairs activity + 2 Women’s League Activities Level II: RubySisterhoods must participate in or sponsor: 3 Education/Program activities + 2 Community Service/World Affairs activities + 3 Women’s League activities Level III: EmeraldSisterhoods must participate in or sponsor: 4 Education/Program activities + 4 Community Service/World Affairs activities + 4 Women’s League activities The presentation of the Jewels in the Crown awards will take place at a celebratory luncheon on Monday afternoon, December 13, 2010, following the convention plenary session on women’s community. All sisterhoods that fulfill the requirements for an award will receive one, regardless of their attendance in Baltimore. However, since the Monday luncheon is planned specifically to honor award recipients, this is an additional incentive to attend and participate in the celebration of your own sisterhood’s accomplishment on an international stage. We invite your Sisterhood and hope you will welcome this unique occasion to recognize your own members who give so much of themselves. We look forward to hearing about your sisterhood. Please fill out and return the award nomination form, which you can find here. (This PDF file requires Adobe Acrobat.) If you have any questions, feel free to call or email us. 2010 Awards Chairs Evelyn Seelig 516.433.9048 Meryl Stern 215.540.0116 |
